Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa is a unique wellness experience that combines the healing geothermal waters of Rotorua with the rich, legendary culture and manaakitanga (caring hospitality) of Ngāti Whakaue. Manuhiri (visitors) can enjoy a variety of wai (water) spaces, saunas, and steam rooms that are designed to stimulate the senses, relax the body, and rejuvenate the soul.
Wai Ariki’s architectural and interior design team, RCG, has created a world-class wellness wāhi (venue) on the shores of Lake Rotorua. The spa features stylish stainless steel and tiled water spaces of different sizes and temperatures, using Rotorua’s natural geothermal warm water or cold water. The day spa also offers steam rooms and saunas with different light and aromatherapy effects, complemented by stunning New Zealand interior design throughout the wāhi.
Coombes Aquatics Limited, along with Hawkins Construction Limited and other subcontractors, were entrusted with turning this wellness sanctuary into a reality. Coombes Aquatics’ engineering team designed and installed a sustainable and quality water services system that ensures the efficient and effective circulation of Rotorua’s geothermal water to the spa’s various water spaces and sensory rooms. The system uses multiple sand filters, water pumps, UV systems, and accurate BECS 5 automatic chemical controllers, to circulate treated water from underground balance tanks and geothermal sources.
Coombes Aquatics is proud, to be part of this very special, uniquely New Zealand day spa project from inception to completion. We look forward to hearing the manuhiri's (visitors) feedback after spending a day soaking in the "chiefly waters" of Wai- Ariki Hot Springs and Spa on the stunning shoreline of Lake Rotorua.
